Is your Child struggling?
Children aged 7 to 12 undergo rapid physical, mental, and emotional development. As they transition from young grade-schoolers to independent preteens, they refine motor skills, develop complex problem-solving abilities, and begin to value peer relationships, on-line social media, sports, and hobbies over just play.
No matter the age, the goal is to provide a supportive, engaging space where your child feels truly heard, understood, and equipped for the future
Growing up isn’t always easy, and sometimes traditional “talk therapy” isn’t enough for a young person to process big emotions. That’s why our practice is built on flexibility, connection, and meeting kids (ages 7–17) right where they are developmentally.
For younger clients, sessions are dynamic and action-oriented.
We incorporate interactive play, therapeutic games, and creative activities to help them express what they may not yet have the words for. Through play, we explore big feelings in a safe, low-pressure way.
Does your preteen have trouble dealing with their emotions? Is their behavior sometimes disruptive to your home life? Have they experienced sudden loss or trauma? Is exposure to social media or self identity causing anxiety?
As they grow, this child and preteen group develop social skills and emotional intelligence. This awareness helps them to develop into healthy, happy, and successful individuals. But some adolescents in the 7 -12 age group have trouble processing their emotions and this often leads to behavior that negatively impacts their school life, home life and overall well-being.
Effective Forms of Therapy for Pre-Teen Children.
The following are a few different types of psychotherapy available to adolescents and families. Each offers unique approaches and techniques to bring about positive outcomes. Sometimes a therapist may choose to use just one specific treatment, and other times he or she may find a combination of various treatments is the best approach.
Play Therapy
For younger clients, sessions are dynamic and action-oriented.
We incorporate interactive play, therapeutic games, and creative activities to help them express what they may not yet have the words for. Through play, we explore big feelings in a safe, low-pressure way.
To make sure the growth doesn’t just stop when the session ends, we often utilize light, practical “homework” assignments. Don’t worry—this isn’t schoolwork! These are small, real-world challenges, reflection prompts, or skill-building exercises designed to reinforce what we learn in the office and help them practice their new tools at home and at school.
